NSW Roads & Traffic Authority (RTA) Engineering Signatory

Vehicle Standards Information

The Vehicle Compliance certification Scheme (VCCS) will be replacing  the Engineering Certificate Scheme (ECS). The outlined information provides advice on the skills attained by persons with experience in automotive design and standards. Engineering Signatories are familiar with vehicle construction requirements in NSW and provide advice to owners and vehicle constructors, also undertake technical assessment and issue engineering certificates.

As a part of the consultation, Consulmotive will :

  •  Personally inspect the vehicle

  •  Ensure that the scope and any construction or modification complies with the Vehicle Standards requirements of NSW legislation (including all relevant, applicable Australian Design Rules);

  •  Issue an engineering certificate in the form specified under the ECS or VCCS applicable at time of certification.

In brief owners are required to obtain an engineering certificate from a signatory when performing any modification to a vehicle if the modification is safety related and affects the continuing compliance of the vehicle with the Vehicle Standards requirements of NSW Legislation.
